About

A club, a community,
and Racky's home base.

We've been smashing shuttles in Lifecamp since 2019. The app came later, the mascot came even later, but the badminton has been here all along.

It started with four people, two rackets, and a borrowed hall in Lifecamp in 2019. Within a month it was a regular evening thing. Within a year there were thirty of us, an elected Exco, and a culture that had quietly become the best part of a lot of people's week.

We've never advertised. Every member who joined did so because someone who plays here brought them along. That word-of-mouth is something we're proud of — it means the people who show up actually want to be here, not just ticking a fitness box.

The badminton is serious enough to be fun and casual enough that nobody gets sent home for a backhand error. We mix skill levels in every session deliberately. Beginners get better faster when they play up. Experienced players stay humble when a newbie drops a net shot they didn't see coming.

Lifecamp Badminton Club is member-run, member-funded, and member-obsessed. The Exco are elected volunteers who play every week alongside everyone else. If something feels off, ping them — chances are they're on court right now.

How we got here

A short history of LBC.

2019

The very first day

Four people show up at a borrowed Lifecamp hall with two rackets and a tube of shuttles. We come back the following week. Then the week after.

2020

First Exco · first dues

We elect a President, a Treasurer, a Secretary. Dues start at ₦3,000/mo. We open a club bank account.

2022

Court 2 opens

Membership crosses 50. We add a second court and the Friday session. The Treasurer starts threatening to quit if one more person sends "did you get it?" on WhatsApp.

2024

Third court, first jerseys

We secure a third court and commission the first run of club jerseys. Sixty-something members. Evening sessions every day of the week.

2025

Courts resurfaced

All three floors get resurfaced. First inter-club friendly — we win one, lose one, and everyone stays for the jollof.

2026

Still here, still smashing

84 active members. Sessions every evening and Saturday mornings. A second inter-club friendly on the calendar. Come join us.

What we stand for

Three rules of LBC.

01

Show up for each other

Sessions run regardless of who else is there. Match you with a partner, lend you a racket, walk you through your first three games. Nobody plays alone if they don't want to.

02

Keep the lights on

Dues fund courts, shuttles, equipment and the occasional jollof rice. We're transparent about what comes in and goes out — full books at every AGM.

03

Have fun, take it slightly seriously

We're not Olympians. We're also not casual. The leaderboard exists because we like the bragging rights — but the social mixers exist because we like each other more.

Drop by this Tuesday.

First session is free. Bring indoor shoes, water, and a competitive streak.
